R-PLUS softgels contain R-alpha lipoic acid (RLA) and
R-dihydrolipoic acid (R-DHLA) in a stable oil form.
RLA and its reduced form, R-DHLA (RLA/R-DHLA) are the naturally occurring “redox” (reduction/oxidation) forms of lipoic acid: These nutrients are found in every cell of the body, bound to enzymes, and essential to energy producing chemical reactions.
Low baseline (prior to supplementation) levels of RLA have been correlated to a variety of disease states. The "redox pair" of RLA/R-DHLA may provide more anti-oxidant protection than either alone. Blood levels of RLA combined with R-DHLA are higher than for RLA alone and detectable for longer periods, as seen in regular users, even after a 4 day washout period.

Evidence suggests that lipoic acid is actually a low-level stressor that turns on the basic cellular defenses of the body, including some of those that naturally decline with age.
